Compare Cowboy Kringle and Deck the Palms animated holiday plush: songs, movement, care, and which novelty Christmas plush fits your home or gift list.
Quick answer
Choose Cowboy Kringle if you want a singing Santa with a country-western twist; choose Deck the Palms if you prefer a tropical, non-Santa character that still delivers a holiday song and dance.
Character and song: Santa vs. tropical tree
The biggest difference is the character itself. Cowboy Kringle is a jolly Santa in a cowboy hat strumming a guitar, singing “On the Sleigh Again” to the tune of “On the Road Again.” Deck the Palms is a palm tree decorated with Christmas lights, a star topper, and a floral hula skirt, dancing to “Mele Kalikimaka.” Neither is a neutral decoration—both are performance pieces that set a specific mood. If your holiday decor leans rustic or country, Kringle fits naturally; if you want a warm-weather or beachy theme, the palm tree is the obvious match.
Movement and batteries: both ready to play
Both plush toys operate on 3 AA batteries that are included, so you can unbox and start them without a separate battery run. Cowboy Kringle sways side to side while singing, while Deck the Palms grooves and dances. The catalog does not specify volume levels or motion speed for either, so if sound sensitivity is a concern, plan to test them in person or keep them for display in a room where you can control the volume.
Care and longevity: spot clean only
Both are spot-clean-only with a damp towel, and the catalog instructs not to machine wash or submerge them. That matters for households with sticky hands or pets: neither is a cuddle-and-wash plush. Treat them as animated decor rather than everyday snuggle toys, and keep them out of reach of very young children who might pull at the hat, guitar, lights, or hula skirt.
Trade-offs to weigh before you buy
- Theme fit vs. versatility: Cowboy Kringle leans heavily into a country-western Christmas; Deck the Palms leans tropical. Pick the one that matches your existing decor, because neither is a neutral piece you can easily blend into any room. If you decorate a single themed tree or mantel, match the character to that theme rather than buying both.
- Santa recognition vs. novelty: Kringle is immediately recognizable as Santa, which makes it an easy gift for traditionalists. The palm tree is a conversation starter but may puzzle relatives expecting a classic Christmas plush. For a mixed-age gift exchange, the Santa is the safer crowd-pleaser.
- Playful motion vs. display control: Both animate and sing, so both need battery access and a spot where motion and sound won’t be disruptive. The catalog does not list volume controls, so treat them as display pieces you can switch on for a moment rather than background toys. Check that you have 3 AA batteries on hand for replacements, even though the first set is included.
